The perceived organizational support level of primary school teachers

Abstract

It is considered important foreffectiveness and efficiency that teachers who work in schools as educationalorganizations are aware of their contributions to the school, to meet theirneeds and expectations and being creative. Organizational support is aperceptual concept that is expressed as teachers who feel safe and valuable, tobe aware that an organization behind them. In this study, the primary schoolteachers’ perceived organizational support levels have been examined. Thesample of the study consists of 494 teachers working in 17 primary schoolswhich were chosen from these districts by cluster sampling method. PerceivedOrganizational Support Scale developed by the researcher and PersonalInformation Form has been used to collect data. Kruskal Wallis analysis andMann-Whitney U test were used to analyze data. According to the results of thestudy, teachers in primary schools perceive the highest level of organizationalsupport in instructional support dimension, the lowest level of organizationalsupport in administrative support dimension. The perceived organizationalsupport of teachers is not differentiated in accordance with gender, branch,education status and received the award for its achievements in vocational. Theperceived organizational support of teachers is differentiated in according toage. While the justice which is the subscale of organizational support isdifferentiated according to vocational experience, instructional andadministrative support is not differentiated in according to vocationalexperience. 

Eğitimörgütleri olan okullarda görev yapan öğretmenlerin okula yaptıkları katkılarınınfark edilmesi,  ihtiyaç vebeklentilerinin karşılanması, yaratıcı olması etkililik ve verimlilik içinönemli görülmektedir. Bu anlamda, öğretmenlerin kendilerini değerli, güvendehissetmesi, arkalarında onları destekleyen bir örgütün olduğunu bilmeleriolarak ifade edilen örgütsel destek kavramına olan ilgi de her geçen gün artmaktadır.Bu araştırmada, ilköğretim okullarında görev yapan öğretmenlerin algıladıklarıörgütsel destek düzeyleri incelenmiştir. Araştırmanın örneklemini kümeörnekleme yöntemiyle seçilen 17 ilköğretim okulu ve bu okullarda görev yapan494 öğretmen oluşturmuştur. Araştırma verileri, araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilenAlgılanan Örgütsel Destek Ölçeği ve kişisel bilgi formu ile toplanmıştır.Verilerin analizinde, Kruskal Wallis analizi ve Mann-Whitney U testi yapılmıştır.Araştırma sonuçlarına göre, ilköğretim okullarında görev yapan öğretmenlerörgütsel desteği en yüksek düzeyde öğretimsel destek boyutunda, en düşükdüzeyde ise yönetsel destek boyutunda algılamaktadır. Öğretmenlerinalgıladıkları örgütsel destek cinsiyet, branş, eğitim durumu ve mesleki başarıdandolayı alınan ödül değişkenlerine göre anlamlı düzeyde farklılaşmamakta; yaşdeğişkeni açısından anlamlı düzeyde farklılaşmaktadır. Öğretmenlerin meslekikıdem değişkenine göre destek algıları adalet boyutunda anlamlı bir farklılıkgösterirken, öğretimsel destek ve yönetsel destek boyutlarında anlamlı birfarklılık göstermemiştir.
