Göçmenlerde benlik ve kimlik sunumu

Abstract

Erving Goffman dealt with daily life from a microperspective. Goffman likened everyday life to the theater stage and named the people who interact as actors. His theory, which he tried to make sense of by using theater terms and comparing daily life to the thaeter stage, came into being under the name of dramaturgy. Turkey is located on the migration route due to its geopolitical position. At this point, our country hosts many immigrants. The fact that international migration has increased and accelerated after the 2000s, voluntarily or compulsorily, has allowed people from different cultures to interact with each other. Ġn our research, we focused on the self and identity presentations of individuals who have voluntarily or compulsorily migrated. It was examined whether there was a difference in the presentation of self and identity according to language, religion, ethnicity, age, gender and educational status. 25 immigrants from 15 different countries living in the city center of Konya were interviewed. Data analysis was carried out in line with the answers given by asking prepared interview questions. As a result of the data analysis, it has been found that there are differences in the presentation of self and identity in immigrants according to language, religion, ethnicity, education level, age and gender.
