If there are multiple decision making units, it is important to specify which of them is effective and to decide accordingly. Decision makers working on effectiveness want to know all the scenarios on how to make ineffective decision making units to be effective. Data Envelopment Analysis, which takes into account multiple inputs and outputs, provides guidance on both the calculation of the effectiveness of the decision-making units and how the ineffective units should behave in order to be effective depending on the reference sets formed as a result of the analyzes.Determining the effectiveness of universities is very important for both the management and the students who will choose the universities. The performance of faculty members plays an important role in determining the prestige of departments and the university in general among other universities. In this study, it is aimed to determine the effectiveness of selected Departments of Statistics in the light of the variables determined.

Birden çok karar verme biriminin olması durumunda, bunlardan hangilerinin etkin olduğunu belirlemek ve buna göre karar vermek önemlidir. Etkinlik üzerine çalışma yapan karar vericiler, etkin olmayan karar verme birimlerinin nasıl etkin hale getirileceğine dair bütün senaryoları bilmek ister. Birden fazla girdi ve çıktıyı dikkate alan Veri Zarflama Analizi hem karar verme birimlerinin etkinliklerinin hesaplanmasında hem de analizler sonucu oluşan referans kümelerine bağlı olarak etkin olmayan birimlerin etkin olabilmeleri için nasıl davranmaları gerektiği konusunda yol göstermektedir. Üniversitelerin etkinliklerinin belirlenebilmesi gerek yönetim gerekse tercihte bulunacak öğrenciler açısından oldukça önemlidir. Öğretim üyelerinin performansları, bölümlerin ve genel olarak üniversitenin diğer üniversiteler arasındaki prestijinin belirlenmesinde önemli rol oynamaktadır. Bu çalışmada belirlenen değişkenler ışığında, seçilen İstatistik bölümlerinin etkinliklerinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır.
