Abstract

Journals are one of the communication materials transferring the period in which they live. Therefore, journals have an important role to reveal the developments in past and important issues of today. New School Journal which had publishing activities between the years 1911-1912 has a great importance in terms of transferring the period of that time and shedding light on present educational issues. The purpose of this research is to flash on present educational problems by putting forth the educational troubles and improvements which are discussed in New School Journal published in 1911-1912.Primarily, during the research it is tried to reach all of the journals. Whole of the journals are achieved in İstanbul Beyazıt Library. Because of reaching the entire journal, sampling wasn't taken further.In the study, transcript method and educational improvements featured in the journal, primary and secondary school curricula and educational problems are revealed. The stated issues related to educational developments and educational matters are then subjected to an evaluation. At the end of the study, the problems of education, formal education (preschool, primary school, secondary school), and the problems of the teaching profession have been reached.

Dergiler, yazıldıkları dönemi canlı olarak aktaran iletişim araçlarındandır. Bu nedenle geçmiş zamanlarda yaşanan gelişmelerin ortaya konulması ve günümüzün önemli konularının açığa çıkarılmasında dergilerin önemli rolü bulunmaktadır. 1911-1912 yılları arasında yayın faaliyetinde bulunan Yeni Mektep Dergisi'de içinde bulunduğu dönemi canlı olarak aktarması ve günümüz eğitim sorunlarına ışık tutması açısından önem taşımaktadır. Bu araştırmanın amacı, 1911-1912 yılları arasında yayınlanan Yeni Mektep Dergisinde ele alınan eğitim ilgili gelişmeleri ve sorunlarını ortaya koyarak günümüz eğitim sorunlarına ışık tutmaktır.Araştırma sürecinde öncelikle dergilerin tamamına ulaşılmaya çalışılmıştır. Dergilerin tamamına İstanbul Beyazıt Kütüphanesinde ulaşılmıştır. Araştırmada dergilerin tamamına ulaşıldığı için ayrıca örneklem alınması yoluna gidilmemiştir.Araştırmada transkript yöntemi ve dergide yer alan eğitim ile gelişmeler, ilk ve ortaokul müfredatları ve eğitim sorunları ortaya konulmuştur. Ortaya konulan bu eğitimile ilgili gelişmeler ve eğitim sorunları daha sonra bir değerlendirmeye tabi tutulmuştur. Araştırma sonunda; eğitimin sorunları, örgün eğitim (okulöncesi, ilkokul, ortaokul), öğretmenlik mesleği sorunlarına ulaşılmıştır.
