Cumhuriyetin ilk yıllarından beri ugrasısı verilen; siyasal alanda çok partili rejimegeçilmesi idealine, 1946 seçimleri ile ulasılmıstır. 1946 Türkiye'sinde, gerek dıskonjonktür gerekse de dıs konjonktürün etkisi, çok partili hayata geçmeyi zorunlukılmıstır. 1946 yılında kurulan Demokrat Parti; demokrasi, liberalizm ve daha çoközgürlükler vaat eden programı ile, kısa sürede sivrilmis ve toplumu olusturan her kesimehitap eder hale gelmistir. Demokrat Parti yakaladıgı bu elektrik sayesinde, 1950, 1954 ve1957 seçimlerini kazanarak, ülke yönetiminde on yıl süre ile söz sahibi olmustur.ktidarının ilk yıllarında büyük bir kalkınma hamlesi baslatan Demokrat Parti hükümeti, bukalkınma projelerinin finansmanını ABD'den aldıgı kredilerle saglamıstır. Ancak 1954itibari ile, ABD'den alınan bu borçların geri ödemelerinde sıkıntılar baslamıs, bu durum dayeni kredilerin alınabilmesini engelleyerek ülkede ekonomik krizlerin çıkmasına nedenolmustur. Tek parti döneminde uygulanan baskılara son vermek ve daha fazla özgürlükgetirmek vaadiyle iktidara gelen Demokrat Parti, kendisine karsı yapılan sert muhalefeteaynı sekilde karsılık verince, basta TSK olmak üzere birçok kurumu karsısında görmüstür.Demokrat Parti'den beklediklerini alamayacagını anlayan muhalif kanat, 1954 yılındanberi hazırlıkları sürdürülen hükümet darbesini, 27 Mayıs 1960 tarihinde gerçeklestirmistirve Demokrat Parti'nin iktidarına son vermistir. An ideal of Multiple Party Regime in terms of political which has been struggled forthe first years of republic was achieved by the election of 1946. In Turkey of 1946 both the effect ofinterior economic situation and exterior economic situation made the MultipleParty Regime into the practise.The Democrat Party, founded in 1946, wasbased on democracy, liberalism and freedom became conspicuous andadressed to the all members of society. Thanks to the this success TheDemocrat Party kept its authority in the country in ten years by winning theelections. In the first years of its power, The Democrat Party Govermentwhich got started a large attack development provided the financing of theseprojects of development with the credits given by the U.S.A. But in 1954 thetroubles started becouse of paying these credits also this situation obstructedtaking new credits and caused economical crisises in the country. TheDemocrat Party was founded to conclude the pressures which were in theperiod of Single Party and bring more freedoms, faced many instutions firstof all TSK, when it answered to the opposition in the same way. The Contraryside realized goverment ,was prepared since 1954, concluded The DemocratParty, when it understood that it wouldn?t expect anything from TheDemocrat Party.
