Siverek Halkevi (1936-1951)

Abstract

The People's Houses were founded to raise the cultural level of the people. Siverek People's House, founded in 1936, served in accordance with this purpose, too. In this study, after talking about the developments in education in the period before the Republic and in the Republican period, some information is given about the establishment, management, organizational structure of the People's House. Then, the establishment of Siverek People's House, its directors, its branches and activities, supervision and recent budget shortage are included. In Siverek People's House, activities like village visits, conferences, theater works, music, sport, photography, helping patients and people in need were fulfilled. Additionally, education programs for the public like literacy courses, tailoring courses were applied. The radio which was bought to make the public be aware of the world was actively used. The People's House which also underwent an inspection from time to time had budget problems in its last years. All the People's Houses were closed in 1951. Siverek People's House with its activities made significant contributions to raise the level of the public. Keywords: People's House, Siverek, Education, Culture, Republic

Halkevleri halkın kültür seviyesini yükseltmek üzere kurulmuşlardı. 1936'da kurulan Siverek Halkevi de bu amaç doğrultusunda hizmet etmiştir. Tez çalışmasında Cumhuriyet öncesi ve Cumhuriyet dönemi eğitim alanındaki gelişmelere değinildikten sonra halkevlerinin kuruluşu, idaresi, teşkilat yapısı hakkında bilgi verilmiştir. Ardından Siverek Halkevi'nin kuruluşu, yöneticileri, kolları, faaliyetleri, teftişi ve son dönemde yaşanan bütçe sıkıntılarına yer verilmiştir. Siverek Halkevi'nde köy ziyaretleri, konferanslar, tiyatro çalışmaları, müzik, spor, fotoğrafçılık, hasta ve muhtaçlara yardım yapılması gibi faaliyetler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Ayrıca okuma-yazma kursları, biçki dikiş kursları gibi halka dönük eğitim programları uygulanmıştır. Halkın dünyadan haberdar olması için satın alınan radyo aktif olarak kullanılmıştır. Zaman zaman teftiş de geçiren halkevleri son dönemlerinde bütçe sıkıntıları yaşamıştır. 1951 yılında bütün halkevleri kapatılmıştır.
