This article provides information about the life of Selamettin Toprak, who was born in Diyarbakır Silvan district and is known for his Arabic poems. The article states that Selamettin Toprak had a madrasah training by his father, worked as an imam in various villages, used the poetic forms and style of classical Arabic literature in his Arabic poems, dealing with with love, religion, mysticism and morality topics. He was influenced by both Kurdish and Arabic literature and sometimes used Kurdish idioms and words in his works. At the end of the article, it is stated that Selamettin Toprak made some grammatical, morphological and syntactic mistakes in his Arabic poems, violating philological rules in order to fit the rhyme and meter of the poem.
