The myocardial bridge is generally as a short segment of the superficially muscular that runs across a coronary artery. Myocardial bridge can be found in both humans and animals (e.g. the dog, cat, sheep, goat, chimpanzee and orangutan). The influence of myocardial bridges upon the blood flow through the coronary artery under the bridges and involvement of myocardial bridges in various heart diseases, including the development of atherosclerosis, angina pectoris, myocardial ischemia, myocardial infarction and sudden ventricular fibrillation have been discussed for years. Special attention was paid to localization, width and lenght of the myocardial bridges. There were large variations in the width (1.3 - 41 mm) and length (0.3-6.6 mm) of myocardial bridges. The localization of the myocardial bridges were discerned in five topographical types. Type I; Myocardial bridges over ramus interventricularis or subsinosus, Type II; Myocardial bridges over a first grade ramus of a ramus interventricularis, Type III; myocardil bridges over second grade ramus of a ramus interventricularis, Type IV; Multyple myocardial bridges, and Type V; myocardial bridges over arteria coronaria dextra et sinistra in sulcus coronarius and their branches into ventricules.
