Abstract

In this study, 36 melon genotypes which are collected from districts of Diyarbakır; Ergani, Silvan, Bismil, Hazro, Lice, Hani, Kocaköy and from Erimli village, were characterized.The aim of this research is, in terms of yield and quality can be made breeding economically, collecting by determining the local melon types of Diyarbakır which are snonymous with the region, protection and doing the characterization that will be proposed breeding works in the future.In this study, some of measurements and observations at seedling, plant, fruit and seed were investigated according to the criteria of the UPOV. Some of them were; hypocotyl length, intensity of green color of cotyledon, height of plant, legth of leaf, diameter of leaf, weigth of fruit, length of fruit, diameter of fruit, flesh firmness of fruit, shell thickness of furit, size of seed, and shape of seedAs a result of this research, all genotypes showed differences from each other in investigated characters like; weight of fuit, ground color of fruit skin and main color of flesh. In the light of the data obtained from this study, the VN2136, VN2116, VN2120 and VN2138-coded types of genotypes was found to be provising for breeding work.

Bu çalışmada, Diyarbakır'ın Ergani, Silvan, Bismil, Hazro, Lice, Hani ve Kocaköy ilçeleri ile Merkez Erimli köyünden toplanan 37 yerli kavun genotiplerinin karakterizasyonu yapılmıştır.Araştırmada amaç, verim ve kalite bakımından ekonomik anlamda yetiştiriciliği yapılabilecek, yöre ile özdeşleşmiş Diyarbakır yerel kavun tiplerinin tespit edilerek toplanması, muhafazası ve gelecekte yapılacak ıslah çalışmalarına zemin oluşturabilecek nitelikte karakterizasyon çalışmasını yapmaktır.Çalışmada UPOV'un kriterlerine göre fidede, bitkide, meyve ve tohumda bazı ölçüm ve gözlemler alınmıştır. Bunlardan bazıları; hipokotil uzunluğu, kotiledon yeşil renk yoğunluğu, bitki boyu, yaprak boyu, yaprak çapı, meyve ağırlığı, meyve uzunluğu, meyve çapı, meyve eti sertliği, meyve kabuk kalınlığı, tohum boyu, tohum çapı ve tohum şeklidir.Yapılan gözlem ve ölçümler sonucunda genotipler arasında meyve ağırlığı, meyvede kabuk zemin rengi ve meyve ana et rengi bakımından değişik oranlarda farklılıklar saptanmıştır.Bu çalışma sonucunda elde edilen veriler ışığında VN2136, VN2116, VN2120 ve VN2138 kodlu genotiplerin ıslah çalışmaları için ümitvar tipler olduğu tespit edilmiştir.
