Abstract

This study has been conducted to shed light on how Small and Medium SizedBusinesses (SMBs) view electronic commerce via carrying out a survey of the SMBs inModoko, Istanbul.The questionnaire was developed with this purpose and conducted amongst 101company representatives being active in Modoko on May 2009.The results have been evaluated using the SPSS 15.0 programme for statisticalanaylses. In the present study, the demographic features of a particular sample groupand the reasons why they do not prefer e-commerce have been tried to be identifiedthrough the frequency and percentage identity statistics, the factor analysis used incovertion of the each of the questions into factors, and T-Test applied to find out out thepotential relationship between the demographic credentials of the sample group andtheir perspectives on e-commerce.As a result, it was evident that the SMBs in Modoko are not very much in favourof e-commerce since they believe customers are willing to see various pieces offurniture being present in the outlet themselves and getting a feel of each item there andthen. Moreover, one of the paramount causes of the inefficient use of e-commerceamongst SMBs is the lack of necessary information and training in this rapidly growingfield.KeyWords: E-commerce, SMBs, Internet

Bu araştırma; KOBİ'lerin elektronik ticarete bakış açılarını İstanbul Modoko'dabulunan KOBİ'ler örnekleminde incelemek amacıyla hazırlanmıştır. Amaçdoğrultusunda hazırlanan anket; 2009 Mayıs ayında İstanbul'da faaliyette bulunanModoko Mobilyacılar sitesinde yer alan 101 firma yetkilisine uygulanmıştır.Araştırma sonuçları bilgisayar ortamında SPSS 15.0 programındanfaydalanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmada örneklem grubunun demografiközelliklerinin ve elektronik ticareti kullanmama nedenlerinin belirlenmesinde frekans veyüzde tanımlayıcı istatistiklerinden, araştırma sorularının faktörlere indirgemesindefaktör analizinden, örneklem grubunun demografik özellikleri ile elektronik ticaretebakış açıları arasındaki ilişkinin belirlenmesinde t-testinden faydalanılmıştır.Araştırma sonucunda; İstanbul Modoko'da bulunan KOBİ'lerin elektronikticarete sıcak bakmadıkları, bunun temelinde ise müşterilerin mobilya ürünlerinin gözlegörülerek, kalitesini hissetmek istemeleri olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır. Ayrıca;KOBİ'lerin elektronik ticaret konusunda bilgi eksikliği de elektronik ticarettenyeterince faydalanamamalarının başlıca nedeni olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır.Anahtar Kelimeler: E-ticaret, Kobi, internet,
