Abstract

In this study, the impact of the Financial Instruments Reporting Standard, which was put into effect in 2018, on banking was discussed in terms of the probability of default. In accordance with the standard, in order to use for calculating the expected credit loss of the banks, the probability of defaulting for customers is required to be calculated in the twelve months following the reporting period and over the lifetime of the loan. Logistic regression is a commonly used technique in probability modeling. The process of calculating the probability of default by using logistic regression with a real data set has been discussed step by step. In this context, after giving information about data set, modeling approach and logistic regression, application was explained. Although Cox regression is not commonly used in the banking sector in Turkey, it is an important alternative for logistic regression and more useful in some ways. Therefore, Cox regression was initially introduced and then application took place. In the conclusion, the results of these two techniques were compared.

Bu çalışmada, 2018'de yürürlüğe giren Finansal Araçlar Raporlama Standardının bankacılığa etkisi temerrüt olasılığı bağlamında ele alınmıştır. Bu Standart gereği, bankaların beklenen kredi zararı hesaplamasında kullanılmak üzere raporlama döneminden sonraki on iki ayda ve kredi ömrü boyunca müşteriler için temerrüt etme olasılıklarının hesaplanması gerekmektedir. Temerrüt olasılığı modellemesinde lojistik regresyon analizi yaygın olarak kullanılan bir tekniktir. Gerçek bir veri seti ile lojistik regresyon analizi uygulanarak temerrüt olasılığı hesaplama süreci aşama aşama ele alınmıştır. Bu kapsamda veri seti, modelleme yaklaşımı ve lojistik regresyon analizi hakkında bilgi verildikten sonra uygulama anlatılmıştır. Cox regresyon analizi Türkiye'de bankacılık alanında çok kullanılmasa da lojistik regresyon analizine ciddi bir alternatiftir ve bazı açılardan daha kullanışlıdır. Bu yüzden Cox regresyon analizi anlatıldıktan sonra uygulamasına yer verilmiş ve sonuç bölümünde bu iki analizin çıktıları karşılaştırılmıştır.
