Abstract

Üniversite adayları, öğrenim görmek istedikleri üniversiteleri seçerken birçok kriteri göz önünde bulundurmaktadırlar. Öğrenciler, sadece bulundukları ülkelerde değil onlara daha iyi olanak sağlayacağını düşündükleri başka ülkelerde de eğitim almayı tercih edebilmektedirler. Dolayısıyla, dünya üniversiteleri arasında ciddi bir rekabet söz konusu olmaktadır. Bu rekabet ortamının bir sonucu olarak dünya üniversitelerinin sıralanması ve üniversite itibarı kavramları ortaya çıkmaktadır. Üniversite sıralamaları birçok kurum ve kuruluş tarafından çok uzun yıllardır gerçekleştirilmektedir. Ancak üniversite itibarı kavramı çok yeni ve üzerinde hala çalışılan bir konudur. Bu çalışmada, Times Higher Education tarafından her yıl düzenli olarak yapılan üniversitelerin genel sıralaması ve itibar sıralaması verileri kullanılmıştır. Çalışmanın amacı, üniversite sıralamalarını belirleyen faktörlerin itibarı da etkileyip etkilemediğini kanonik korelasyon analizi ile ortaya çıkartmak ve bu bağlamda üniversite itibarını etkileyen faktörlerin ortaya çıkartılmasını sağlamaktır.
