Abstract

Objetivo: Conocer la distribución y los principales parámetros de la obesidad en pacientes pediátricos atendidos en consulta externa en el hospital MINSA II-2 Tarapoto y Hospital Essalud II-2 Tarapoto, periodo Julio-Noviembre 2015. Materiales y método: El estudio se llevó a cabo en los Hospitales MINSA y ESSALUD de la ciudad de Tarapoto-San Martin. La población estudiada fue de 500 niños, 250 del hospital MINSA y 250 del Hospital Essalud, de cero a 18 años de edad, de ambos sexos, distribuidos en cinco grupos etarios. Los valores del índice de masa corporal (IMC) fueron analizados según las tablas del CDC, teniendo como valores diagnósticos entre percentil 85 y 95 para sobrepeso y percentil más de 95 para obesidad. Los valores para la circunferencia abdominal fueron analizados según Mc Carthy, en su estudio publicado en Jocn Eupean Journal of Clinical nutrition, teniendo como valore diagnostico una circunferencia abdominal aumentada por encima de percentil 90. Resultados: Se encontró una prevalencia de 7,6% de sobrepeso y un 14,4% de obesidad. Según sexo, en varones el 69,1% presentaron obesidad y sobrepeso; en mujeres el 30,9% presentaron obesidad y sobrepeso. Hubo mayor obesidad y sobrepeso en el grupo etario de escolares (5-11años) con 45,5%. De acuerdo a los hospitales Essalud presento 60% con obesidad y sobrepeso, y el hospital MINSA 40%. De los pacientes con obesidad y sobrepeso, el 23.63% presento circunferencia abdominal aumentada, y el 76.37% presento circunferencia abdominal normal. Conclusiones: Se encontró una prevalencia de 7,6% de sobrepeso y un 14,4% de obesidad. No se encontró relación significativa entre obesidad y sobrepeso, con circunferencia abdominal aumentada

Objective: To know the distribution and main parameters of obesity in pediatric patients attended at the MINSA II-2 Tarapoto Hospital and Hospital Essalud II-2 Tarapoto, July-November 2015. Materials and method: The study was carried out in the MINSA and ESSALUD Hospitals of the city of Tarapoto-San Martin. Body mass index (BMI) values were analyzed according to the CDC tables, with diagnostic values between the 85th and 95th percentile for overweight and the 95th percentile for obesity. Values for abdominal circumference were analyzed according to Mc Carthy, in his study published in Jocn Eupean Journal of Clinical nutrition, having as diagnostic value an increased abdominal circumference above the 90th percentile. Results: A prevalence of 7.6% of overweight and 14.4% of obesity was found. According to sex, in males 69.1% were obese and overweight; In women, 30.9% were obese and overweight. There was greater obesity and overweight in the school age group (5-11 years) with 45.5%. According to the hospitals Essalud presented 60% with obesity and overweight, and the MINSA hospital 40%.
