Abstract

El presente proyecto de investigación tuvo como objetivo principal determinar la prevalencia de Escabiosis (Sarcoptes scabiei var. canis) y Demodicosis (Demodex canis) en caninos del Sector Atumpampa – Distrito de Morales, San Martin. La metodología consistió en realizar el raspado cutáneo de cada can evaluado al azar para obtener datos que nos darán a conocer si estos patógenos están presentes en la población, en que edades tiene mayor prevalencia y a su vez en que sexo predomina. Posteriormente se le realizo el examen a 190 canes al azar a los cuales se les practico la técnica de raspado cutáneo. Luego de la evaluación de las muestras pudimos obtener resultados que nos indican que solo el 1.05% (2/190) resulto positivo al acaro Demodex canis y 0% (0/190) a Sarcoptes scabiei var. canis, con respecto a la edad, en canes menores a 1 año se obtuvo que el 1.75% (1/57) fue positivo a Demodex canis, de 1 – 6 años el 0.86% (1/115) positivo a Demodex canis y mayor a 6 años un 0% (0/17), en correlación al sexo se obtuvo en las hembras un 2.38% (2/84) de casos positivos a Demodex canis. Podemos concluir así que el porcentaje de caninos infectados no presenta asociación alguna entre el agente patógeno, la edad y sexo del can. Así mismo el análisis estadístico mediante la prueba de chi-cuadrado, nos indica que las variables de edad y sexo presentaron no significativos.

The main objective of this research project was to determine the prevalence of Scabies (Sarcoptes scabiei Var. canis) and Demodicosis (Demodex canis) in canines from the Atumpampa Sector – Morales District, San Martin. The methodology consisted of performing a skin scraping of each dog evaluated at random to obtain data that will let us know if these pathogens are present in the population, at what ages they are most prevalent, and at the same time in which sex predominates. Subsequently, the examination was carried out on 190 random dogs on which the skin scraping technique was performed. After the evaluation of the samples, we were able to obtain results that indicate that only 1.05% (2/190) tested positive for the Demodex canis mite and 0% (0/190) for Sarcoptes scabiei var. canis, with respect to age, in dogs under 1 year old it was found that 1.75% (1/57) were positive to Demodex canis, from 1 – 6 years old 0.86% (1/115) were positive to Demodex canis and older at 6 years 0% (0/17), in correlation to sex, 2.38% (2/84) of positive cases to Demodex canis were obtained in females. We can thus conclude that the percentage of infected canines does not present any association between the pathogenic agent and the age and sex of the dog. Likewise, the statistical analysis using the chi-square test indicates that the age and sex variables were non-significant.
