Abstract

Static level in drinking water treatment system for chlorine saving and use of raw water in coffee washing. Water chlorination is a form of water treatment in the drinking water treatment process in rural areas. This requirement is met in rural areas through the implementation of chlorination technologies; however, it is necessary to avoid the loss of chlorinated water, especially during off-peak hours when there is an overflow in the reservoir, where chlorine must be supplied in quantities that ensure the free residual chlorine required in the water for human consumption. The objective of this research is to implement a static level device in the water purification system that will contribute to chlorine savings and to the use of raw water for washing "coffee". The study was carried out in the water system of the Santa Rosa population center, district of Soritor, province of Moyobamba, department of San Martin. In order to achieve the established objectives, the research was conducted from 14 - 11 - 2022 to 14-04-2023. First, the static level device was correctly installed in the reservoir of the water system, then the calculation of the flow rate of the intake, reservoir inlet and reservoir outlet was performed, which allowed the use of the amount of chlorine required for human consumption in the chlorination of the water. In addition, the excess raw water from the reservoir overflow was directed to an 1100 liter tank that was used for washing "coffee". Subsequently, a comparison of the chlorine costs used without the static level device and with the implementation of the static level device was made using Microsoft Excel. In conclusion, the implementation of the static level device in the water purification system of the Santa Rosa farmhouse contributes 437.91 Peruvian soles in annual savings in chlorination and approximately 3.0 m3 of raw water is used for each day of "coffee" washing.
