Abstract

One of the processes most widely used in the treatment of water is sedimentation which is attributed the importance that requires it, in the present investigation four tests were performed to determine the optimal sedimentation rate of flocs formed with coagulant Aluminum Sulfate type "A" of the drinking water treatment plant, Moyobamba, obtaining variable results and inversely proportional to the sedimentation time, expressed through the floc removed in percentage terms, which show the optimal curve in the four respective tests where variable speeds were obtained applying the coagulant at different concentrations such as C1 = 10 mg / L, C2 = 15 mg / L, C3 = 20 mg / L, C4 = 30 mg / L, C5 = 40 mg / L and C6 = 50 mg / L in each jar with sedimentation times of t1 = 1 min, t2 = 3 min, t3 = 5 min, t4 = 10 min, t5 = 15 min, t6 = 20 min, t7 = 25 min and t8 = 30 min, with the results presents the curve: floc removed vs. Sedimentation time showing the efficiencies of the tests with raw water and coagulant aluminum sulfate type A (Al2(SO4)3.14H2O) show positive and negative random efficiencies, however, at a concentration of 50 mg / L a better efficiency in all sedimentation times and a variable sedimentation rate in each jar.
