Goffman'ın benlik sunumu kavramı ve toplumsal cinsiyet rolleri

Abstract

In the framework of Goffman's concept of self-presentation and dramaturgy theory, in the study examining the relationship between gender roles and self-presentation, it has been emphasized on social interaction. Gender roles, as individuality, has been progressed with idea that it has been a result of social structure, social norms, values and social interaction. In this study, effect of gender roles on the individual's self presentation has been examined. The stereotypical roles that have been transferred from the past to the present have been categorized by genders. For women and men, it has been expected to performing roles determined by society. That performed roles meet societal expectations has provide individuals to exist in social structure and accepted. With dramaturgy theory in the study, Goffman has explained social structure and formation of individual's ego, who interacts with this structure, being visible of formed ego. In the study examining the relationship between gender roles and self-presentation, the phenomenological method, one of the qualitative research methods, has been used and the answers of the participants have been examined with descriptive analysis method. How gender roles that person has are visible during societal interactions has been investigated from experiences of women and men who participate in research.

Goffman'ın benlik sunumu kavramı ve dramaturji kuramı çerçevesinde toplumsal cinsiyet rolleri ve benlik sunumu ilişkisinin incelendiği araştırmada, toplumsal etkileşimin üzerinde durulmuştur. Toplumsal cinsiyet rollerinin, toplumsal yapının, toplumsal normların, değerlerin ve toplumsal etkileşimin bir sonucu olduğu fikri ile ilerlenmiştir. Bu araştırmada, toplumsal cinsiyet rollerinin, benliğin sunumu ile ilişkisi incelenmektedir. Geçmişten bugüne aktarılmış kalıp roller, cinsiyetlere göre kategorize edilmiştir. Kadınlar ve erkekler için toplum tarafından belirlenmiş rollerin sergilenmesi beklenmektedir. Sergilenen rollerin toplumsal beklentileri karşılıyor olması, bireylerin toplumsal yapı içinde var olmalarını ve kabul görmelerini sağlamaktadır. Goffman, araştırmada yer verilen, dramaturji kuramı ile toplumsal yapıyı ve bu yapı ile etkileşimde olan bireyin benliğinin oluşumunu, oluşan benliğin görünür oluşunu açıklamaktadır. Toplumsal cinsiyet rolleri ve benlik sunumu ilişkisinin incelendiği araştırmada, nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden fenomenolojik yöntem kullanılmış, katılımcıların yanıtları betimsel analiz yöntemi ile incelenmiştir. Bireyin, sahip olduğu toplumsal cinsiyet rollerinin toplumsal etkileşimler esnasında nasıl görünür olduğu, araştırmaya katılan kadınlar ve erkeklerin deneyimleriyle ilişkili olarak incelenmiştir.
