Ege Bölgesi Emys orbicularis (Testudinata: Emydidae) ve Mauremys caspica (Testudinata;Bataquridae) türlerinin taksonomisi ve biyolojisi üzerine araştırmalar

Abstract

In this study populations of Emys orbicularis and Mauremys caspica collected from the Aegean region are investigated by comparing their morphological characteristics. It has been observed that in this respect the populations oîEmys orbicularis in Izmir and Muğla are similar to Emys orbicularis hellenica. Some characteristics (such as SCL*) of the Afyon population is intermediate between those of Emys orbicularis hellenica and Emys orbicularis luteofusca. While Kütahya population, of which we have a small sample size, is similar to Emys orbicularis luteofusca, especially from the viewpoint of SCL. About the populations of Mauremys caspica, as the previous researhes stated, it has been found out to be similar to the Mauremys caspica rivulata subspecies.Key words: Testudinata, Emydidae, Bataguridae, Taxonomy, Biology, Aegean region, Turkey. *: Straight Carapace Length
