ABSTRACT EFFICIENCY DETERMINATION OF THE HPGe DETECTOR AND DERIVING THE EFFICIENCY FUNCTION EPİK (KARADENİZ), Özlem MSc, Nuclear Science Institues Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Güngör Yener August 1997, 36 pages In this study, the intrinsic full-energy peak efficiency of a 184 cm3 HPGe detector was deteirnined in 80 keV-1500 keV energy range. To determine the intrinsic full-energy peak efficiency of the HPGe detector, the counts taken from the standart sources in far geometry and the activities of these sources were used. The efficiency values were calculated for twenty different gama energies. The efficiency curve, which is fitted the efficiency values obtained, was shown in two different scale. The functions and parameters which are fitted the efficiency curves were obtained by a computer program. Keywords: HPGe detector, determination of efficiency, efficiency curve
