Anadolu Türk sanatında kandil motifi

Abstract

Yüzyıllar boyunca insanoğlunun en temel ihtiyaçlarından biri de aydınlatmadır. Ateşin icadıyla birlikte onu kontrol altına alma isteği, aydınlatma araçlarının ortaya çıkmasına neden olmuştur. Kandil bu amaca hizmet eden aynı zamanda toplumun ekonomik ve sosyal durumuna dair ipuçları veren önemli bir objedir. Fiziki işlevselliğinin yanında taşıdığı sembolik anlam, kandile motif olarak bir ayrıcalık kazandırmıştır. Öyle ki, aydınlatma objesi olan kandil, motif olarak Türk Sanatının pek çok farklı dalında, bezeme repertuarında kendine yer bulmuştur. Ancak Türk İslam süsleme sanatlarında kullanılan kandil motifi, antik devir kandillerinden farklı görünümdedir. Motiflerde görülen kandil, "asma kandil" ya da "cami kandili" olarak adlandırılan, kubbe ya da tavana zincirlerle asılan kandildir. "Anadolu Türk Sanatında Kandil Motifi" adlı bu tezde taş, çini, dokuma, kalemişi, hat, minyatür, maden, alçı ve ahşap süslemede kandil motifi kullanımı incelenmiştir. Çeşitli eserler üzerindeki kandil tasvirleri uygulama tekniği, form özellikleri, zengin kompozisyon şeması açısından ele alındığında, motifin Anadolu Türk Sanatında ayrı bir yere sahip olduğu görülmektedir.
