The art of cinema forms its own artistic aesthetics, by drawing its strength from unique structures and forms of numerous traditional arts. A director becomes the creator of filmic time and space with an artistic perspective by selecting and combining sounds and moving pictures just like a novel writer who creates hundred pages of novels supported by the words. In compliance with the dramatic structure, as allowing selection from the hundreds of shootings, the editing is one of the basic narrative tools which brings esthetical format to movies.Reha Erdem, one of the innovative directors of Turkish Cinema, by interpreting the art of editing as an esthetical elements of his language of cinema, forms the meaning and narrative structures of his movies. Expressing that he likes what is created in the cinema, the director draws attention to the connotations with visual and auditory codes that he has designed to construct his films by editing with a libertarian mentality.The aim of this study is to understand how related the editing with the meaning and narrative structure in the movies of Reha Erdem who is one of the New Turkish Cinema directors in post-1990. The first part of the research consist of the historical process of cinema art and the development of the editing within this period and the institutionalized views that will contribute intellectual meaning to this study. In the second part of the research, the distinguishing features of director cinema are classified under common headings and interpreted within the framework of auteur theory. In the third and final part of the research, film analyzes has taken place, based on theoretical frameworks determined in the first and second parts. In this part, the movies; Kaç Para Kaç (1999), Beş Vakit (2006), Kosmos (2009) were chosen which gives the opportunity to access more detailed information on cinema understanding of the director. Sinema sanatı birçok geleneksel sanatın özgün yapı ve formlarından güç alarak kendi sanatsal estetiğini oluşturmaktadır. Bir yönetmen, bir roman yazarının sözcüklerden güç alarak yüzlerce sayfalık romanını inşa etmesi gibi ses ve görüntüleri seçerek, birleştirerek sanatsal bir bakış açısıyla sinemasal zaman ve mekânın yaratıcısı olur. Dramatik yapıya uygun olarak, yüzlerce çekim arasından seçim yapma fırsatı tanıyan kurgu, filme estetik bir boyut kazandıran sinemanın temel anlatı araçlarındandır.Türk Sinemasının yenilikçi yönetmenlerinden Reha Erdem, kurgu sanatını sinemasal dilinin estetik bir unsuru olarak yorumlayıp filmlerinde anlam ve anlatı yapısını kurgu ile biçimlendirmektedir. Sinemada yaratılmış olanı sevdiğini ifade eden yönetmen özgürlükçü bir anlayışla filmlerini kurgu ile inşa etmekte tasarlamış olduğu görsel ve işitsel kodlarla yan anlamlara dikkat çekmektedir.Bu çalışmanın amacı, 1990 sonrası Yeni Türkiye Sineması yönetmenlerinden Reha Erdem' in filmlerindeki anlam ve anlatı yapısının kurgu ile nasıl ilişkilendirildiğini anlamaya yöneliktir. Araştırmanın birinci bölümünde sinema sanatının tarihsel süreci ve kurgunun bu süreçteki gelişimi ile birlikte teze düşünsel anlamda katkı saylayacak olan kuramsallaştırılmış görüşlere yer verilmektedir. Araştırmanın ikinci bölümünde, yönetmen sinemasının ayırt edici özellikleri ortak başlıklar altında sınıflandırılarak auteur kuram çerçevesinden yorumlanmaktadır. Araştırmanın üçüncü ve son bölümünde ise birinci ve ikinci bölümde belirlenmiş kuramsal çerçeveler ışığında film analizlerine yer verilmektedir. Bu bölümde yönetmenin sinema anlayışı üzerine daha detaylı bilgilere ulaşılabilme fırsatı veren,Kaç Para Kaç (1999), Beş Vakit (2006), Kosmos (2009) filmleri tercih edilmiştir.
