Abstract

In this study, the activity concentration of 210Po, 210Pb, 238U, 232Th and 40K were determined in onion, grape leaf, garlic, wheat and soil samples which collected from the field of organic and conventional farming around Izmir, transfer factors was calculated and the correlations between 210Po, 210Pb, 238U, 232Th and 40K concentrations and clay minerals were examined. The activity concentrations of 210Po and 210Pb in soil and plant samples were determined using alpha spectrometry, 238U, 232Th and 40K activity concentrations were determined by HPGe semi-conductor detector and NaI(Tl) sintilation detector, clay minerals were identified by XRD.The activity concentrations of samples which is collected from the conventional farming area were calculated higher than organic farming area depending on the use of fertilizer and pestisit. Grape leaf sample number one that is collected from conventional farming area showed the highest concentration of radionuclides 2,18 Bq kg-1 for 210Po, 17 Bq kg-1 for 210Pb, 18,5 Bq kg-1 for 238U, 1,19 Bq kg-1 for 232Th and 174 Bq kg-1 for 40K.
