Schiff base ligands derived from pyrimidine derivatives

Authors: Kaya, Hale;

Schiff base ligands derived from pyrimidine derivatives

Abstract

VII ABSTRACT KAYA, Hale Master of Science Thesis, Chemistry Department Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Demet ASTLEY September 2005, 85 Pages We synthesized a number of Schiff base ligands from 5- aminouracil and four different benzilidene compounds and their Cu(lT) and Ni(H) complexes. The structure of Schiff bases and metal complexes of Schiff bases, were chracterized using FT-IR, UV-Vis, *H NMR and 13C NMR, elemental analysis.In the complexes, all the ligands behave as bidentate ligands, the oxygen in the ortho position and azomethine nitrogen atoms of the ligands coordinate metal ions. Key words: 5-Aminouracil, Schiff base, Metal complexes.

ÖZET KAYA, Hale Yüksek Lisans Tezi, Kimya Bölümü Tez Yöneticisi: Prof. Dr. Demet ASTLEY Eylül 2005, 85 Sayfa 5-aminourasil ve dört farklı aldehitten Schiff bazları ve bunların Cu(II) ve Ni(II) komplekslerini sentezledik. Schiff bazları ve komplekslerin yapıları İR, UV, JH NMR ve 13C NMR,element analiz sonuçlarıyla değerlendirildi. Komplekslerde tüm ligandlar ikidişli ligand olarak davrandı. Ligandlar metale orto konumundaki oksijen ve azometin nitrojeninden koordine olmuştur. Anahtar Kelimeler:5-Aminourasil, Schiff Bazı, Metal Kompleksi
