Türkiye’de İkiz Açık Hipotezinin Nedensellik Analizi

Abstract

The relationship between budget deficit and current account deficit is one of the most studied areas of economics. The existence of a relationship between the two variables and the direction of causality have been analyzed both theoretically and practically, and the debate in the literature continues. In this study, in which Turkey's budget deficit and current account deficit variables for the period 1974-2022 are used at annual frequency, the causality test is conducted with Toda-Yamamoto (1995) causality test. The findings show that there is a causality relationship from budget deficit to current account deficit for the period in question.
