Burhaniye (Şarköy) civarı neojen ostrakod mikrofaunası ve biyostratigrafisi

Abstract

ABSTRACT NEOGEN OSTRACOD MICROFAUNA AND BIOSTRATIGRAPY OF BURHANİYE ( SARKOY ) VICINITY ERKAN, Ferruh Natural History Museum Supervisor : Lecturer Dr. Neriman DORUK October 2001, 49 pages The area which this research has taken place comprises the eastern slopes c Sarkoy and the region extending in between the village of Şahinler and Sarkoy wher the Neogene series are exposed best. ITic investigation was conducted at first on the field, continued in the laboratory It was found out the limnic ostracod species existed in the area. The conclusion of thi finding suggest us that there was a shallow lake in this area before. The species of ostracod found in this area should be similar with some of th species existed during Pontian age, and includes some species prevalent in the watc today, in addition to some of endemic species. According to study, it is revealed that must of the area censist of sediments ( Portoferrian epoch and the sediments of upper levels represent Portoferrian Bosforian transition and the sediments of lower could represent Novorossian Portoferrian transition.
