Abstract

Levando-se em conta o grande número de indivíduos de gato-do-mao-pequeno (Leopardus tigrinus) e gato-mourisco (Puma yagouaroundi) em cativeiro, este estudo visou promover uma comparação entre os achados clínicos de lesões orais de cada espécie, bem como a avaliação tomográfica odontológica de cada espécie. Para tanto, foram utilizados 12 indivíduos da espécie Leopardus tigrinus e 9 indivíduos da espécie Puma yagouaroundi de cativeiro (Parque Zoológico Municipal Quinzinho de Barros – PZMQB). Esses animais, após anestesia geral, foram submetidos a exame físico geral, exame físico da cavidade oral, documentação dos achados clínicos em fichas odontológicas veterinárias e documentação fotográfica. Ambas as espécies apresentaram uma grande incidência de lesões orais, sendo as afecções mais encontradas a doença periodontal, a fratura e o desgaste dentário. Após essa avaliação inicial foram submetidos ao exame de Tomografia Computadorizada (TC) da mandíbula e maxila. Todas as imagens tomográficas foram avaliadas e foi realizada a mensuração das estruturas ósseas mandibulares e maxilares. Os resultados mostram que as médias de todas as medidas avaliadas foram maiores em Puma yagouaroundi

Taking into account the large number of individuals of Oncillas (Leopardus tigrinus) and Jaguarundis (Puma yagouaroundi) in captive, this study aimed to promote clinical findings of each specie oral lesions; and dental computed tomography of it. A total of 12 captive individuals of the specie Leopardus tigrinus and 9 individuals of the specie Puma yagouaroundi from the “Quinzinho de Barros” Municipal Zoo – PZMQB Sorocaba – São Paulo, have been evaluated. After general anesthesia, these individuals underwent a general physical examination, oral examination, documentation of clinical findings in veterinary dental records and photographic documentation. Both species have presented a high incidence of oral lesions, with the most common lesions found periodontal disease, tooth wear and fracture. After this initial evaluation, the individuals underwent Computed Tomography (CT) scans of the mandible and maxilla. CT images were evaluated and were performed to measure the mandibular and maxillary bone structures. The results show that the average all measurements were higher in Puma yagouaroundi
