Abstract

In order To face the constant competition in the market, automotive companies seek the development of a quality management system (QMS) according to the standards of ISO TS 16949, which from 2016 was added new elements and became known as IATF 16949. The evolution from ISO TS 16949 to IATF 16949 has brought a number of changes and new requirements that need to be analyzed from a theoretical and empirical point of view in order to support a better understanding of its implementation in automotive companies. Given this, the main objective of this research is to propose guidelines to assist companies in the implementation of the added elements in the migration to IATF 16949. To accomplish this objective, a review of the scientific literature on various aspects of quality management systems was performed. the identification of the added elements in the evolution from ISO TS 16949 to IATF 16949 and, finally, 4 case studies were carried out in automotive companies. With the development and execution of this research the following results were obtained: identification of the main added elements in the migration from ISO TS 16949 to IATF 16949, good practices, benefits and difficulties faced by companies in their implementation, and proposing guidelines to guide the implementation of IATF 16949 elements.
