The objective of this study was to establish the hemodynamic effects in calves anesthetized by sevoflurane and maintained under pressurecontrolled ventilation with different oxygen inspired fractions (21%, 60% and 100%). Seven Holstein calves, aged 6 to 12 months, weighing 111 ± 27kg. All animals participated in all experimental groups. Initially, each calf was anesthetized to determine its individual minimum alveolar concentration (CAM). After the CAM was determined and a minimum period of 7 days was observed, the calves were anesthetized with sevoflurane and the inspired oxygen fraction adjusted according to each group. Animals were submitted to mechanical ventilation, with respiratory rate adjusted to maintain ETCO2 between 40 and 45 mmHg. Anesthesia maintenance was performed with sevoflurane, at the concentration of 1.4 CAM. The variables were determined 30, 60, 90, 120, 150 and 180 minutes after intubation. There was no difference in the hemodynamic variables, only differences in the CO2 and oxygen tension indicators were observed: P(a-ET)CO2; IR; a/A e P(A-a)O2 and in hemogasometric variables; PaCO2; PaO2; SaO2; BE; HCO3 - , however, without altering the arterial pH. The results allow to conclude that, independently of the inspired fraction of oxygen, there was hemodynamic, respiratory and hemogasometric stability.
