Características das carcaças de cordeiros lactentes terminados em creep feeding e creep grazing

Abstract

El estudio se realizó en el Laboratorio de Producción e Investigación en Ovinos y Caprinos (LAPOC/UFPR) con el objetivo de evaluar los sistemas de finalización de corderos lactantes en praderas de raigrás suplementados em creep feeding e creep grazing y su influencia en las características en vivo, de la canal y de los componentes del quinto cuarto. Se estudiaron tres sistemas de alimentación en praderas de raigrás, como sigue: (1) sin el destete de los corderos y sin suplementación (2) sin el destete de los corderos con acceso exclusivo a la suplementación de concentrado al 2% del peso corporal por día, en creep feeding; (3) igual que el anterior y con acceso exclusivo a suplementación de trébol blanco (Trifolium repens) en creep grazing. Los corderos fueron sacrificados cuando alcanzaron el peso individual de 33 kg. Fueron obtenidas las medidas corporales in vivo. También, fueron tomados el peso y cuantificado el rendimiento de las canales; del quinto cuarto; las medidas de la zona del lomo y el espesor de la grasa en esta región. Los sistemas de suplementación no afectaron la morfología de los corderos, sus canales y otros componentes, resultando en canales y cortes homogéneos con estándares apropiados para el mercado de consumo nacional. El uso de pastoreo con suplementación en el trébol blanco en creep grazing se presentó como una posible alternativa paraa los productores de corderos en pastoreo.

O trabalho foi desenvolvido no Laboratório de Produção e Pesquisa de Ovinos e Caprinos da UFPR objetivando avaliar sistemas de terminação de cordeiros lactentes em pastagem, suplementados em creep feeding e creep grazing, por meio das características in vivo, da carcaça e dos não constituintes da carcaça. Foram estudados três sistemas de terminação em pastagem de azevém: (1) cordeiros sem desmame e sem suplementação; (2) cordeiros sem desmame com acesso exclusivo à suplementação concentrada a 2% do peso corporal por dia em comedouro privativo (creep feeding); (3) cordeiros sem desmame com acesso livre e exclusivo à suplementação com trevo branco (Trifolium repens) em pasto privativo (creep grazing). Os cordeiros foram abatidos ao atingirem o peso vivo individual de 33 kg. Foram tomadas as medidas corporais in vivo; os pesos e rendimentos das carcaças, dos cortes e das vísceras; as medidas da área do lombo e da gordura subcutânea nessa região. Os sistemas de suplementação não interferiram nos aspectos morfológicos dos cordeiros, de suas carcaças e demais componentes, resultando em carcaças e cortes homogêneos e de padrão adequado para o mercado consumidor nacional. O uso do trevo branco em creep grazing mostrou-se como possível alternativa tecnológica aos produtores de cordeiros em pasto.

The work was developed in Sheep and Goat Production Laboratory of UFPR to evaluate the sucking lambs systems of production in pasture, supplemented in creep feeding or creep grazing. It was evaluated in vivo and carcass characteristic and non-carcass components of Suffolk lambs. Three systems of production were studied: (1) lambs kept with their dams in ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum) until slaughter; (2) lambs kept with their dams in the same pasture but lambs supplemented in creep feeding (2% live weight, daily) until slaughter; (3) lambs kept with their dams and supplemented in creep grazing with free access to white clover (Trifolium repens) until slaughter. The males were slaughtered at 33 kg of live weight. In vivo measurements, carcasses, cuts and non-carcasses components characteristics and weights were evaluated. In vivo measurements and carcasses characteristics, cuts and noncarcass components were not different from the three systems of production being acceptable for marketing. Creep grazing with white clover may be considered technological alternative for farmers.
