Abstract

This dissertation aims to analyze and reflect on the horizons of expectation set out in the final moments of the monarchy in Brazil about the imminent arrival of the Third Reign, as well as its reinterpretation with the fall of the monarchy and the establishment of a republican regime, shaped from the military coup of November 15, 1889. Similarly, we intend to study the persistence and conformation of the same idea in the early stages of the First Republic and the monarchist movement. As a source, it has been used works of intellectual monarchists that devised the most diverse projects for a Third Reign, as well as the Tribuna Liberal newspaper, the official organ of the Liberal Party in an attempt to understand the perceptions that contemporary formulated its present and near future, as well as understand the formation of the horizons of expectation that were formed around the idea of the arrival of a Third Reign.
