El nefroblastoma es un tumor maligno renal compuesta por tejido embrionario que afecta principalmente a los cachorros. En este documento se informa la ocurrencia de nefroblastoma renal unilateral en perro con cuatro meses de edad. El diagnóstico se obtuvo mediante examen histopatológico de la masa obtenida por laparotomía exploradora, con realización de nefrectomía. El animal fue a la muerte después de 15 días de la intervención por la presencia de metástasis pulmonares. La tasa de supervivencia con la extirpación quirúrgica de conducta, con o sin acompañamiento de terapias complementarias, puede variar con el estadio de la enfermedad.
O nefroblastoma é uma neoplasia renal maligna composta por tecido embrionário que acomete principalmente filhotes. Relata-se a ocorrência de nefroblastoma renal unilateral em cão com quatro meses de idade. O diagnóstico foi obtido por exame histopatológico de massa excisada por meio de laparotomia exploratória, com realização de nefrectomia. O animal veio a óbito após 15 dias do pós-operatório por desenvolver metástases pulmonares. A taxa de sobrevida com realização de excisão cirúrgica, acompanhada ou não por terapias complementares, pode variar de acordo com o estágio da doença.
Renal nephroblastoma is a malignant tumor composed by embryonic tissue that affects mainly puppies. This works reports the occurrence of unilateral renal nephroblastoma in a puppy with four months. The diagnosis was obtained by histopathological examination of mass obtained by exploratory laparotomy, with realization of nephrectomy. The animal died at 15 days post-operatively by the presence of pulmonary metastases. The survival rate with surgical excision of the mass, with or without complementary therapies, can vary with the stage of disease.
