Abstract

A biocompatibilidade de dois adesivos dentinários (Scotchbond MultiPurpose- 3M e Optibond Multi-Use - Kerr) foi avaliada por meio de implantes em tecido conjuntivo subcutâneo de ratos. Os implantes foram realizados, utilizando-se tubos de polietileno preenchidos com os respectivos adesivos e inseridos em lojas cirúrgicas preparadas no dorso dos animais, os quais foram sacrificados nos periodos de observação de 14, 30, 60 e 84 dias. Os tecidos circunjacentes aos implantes foram removidos, incluídos em parafina e corados com hematoxilina e eosina para análise em microscopia óptica. Os resultados mostraram moderado a discreto infiltrado inflamatório nos períodos iniciais de observação (14 e 30 dias) e reparação da área nos períodos posteriores (60 e 84 dias), com formação de cápsula fibrosa envolvendo todos os implantes. Os resultados obtidos nos permitiram concluir que: a) os dois adesivos dentinários são biologicamente aceitáveis quando colocados em contato com o tecido conjuntivo subcutâneo de ratos; b) houve reação moderada do tecido conjuntivo subcutâneo de ratos aos dois adesivos dentinários no período de observação de 14 dias, a qual persistiu com o adesivo Optibond MultiUse-light cure- (Kerr) aos 30 dias; c) as reações teciduais provocadas pelos dois adesivos nos períodos de observação de 60 e 84 dias foram semelhantes e biologicamente aceitáveis

The biocompatibility of two dentin adhesives (Scotchbond MultiPurpose- 3M and Optibond Multi-Use - Kerr) was evaluated in rats subcutaneous connective tissue implants. Polyethylene tubes filled with the adhesives were surgically implanted into the dorsal subcutaneous tissues of rats. The tubes were left implanted for periods of 14, 30, 60 and 84 days, following wich the animais were killed and the implants, together with the surrounding tissue, were excised. The specimens were then fixed in 10 per cent formalin, sectioned serially and stained with hematoxylin and eosin and then, examined by light microscopy. After 14 and 30 days the tubes were surrounded by a mild to moderate inflammatory infiltration. After 60 and 84 days microscopic examination revealed the formation of a connective tissue capsule around each tube. The microscopic examination of the biopsy specimens allowed to conclude that: a) both dentin adhesives are considered biologically acceptable when placed in contact with rats subcutaneous connective tissue; b) in the observation period of 30 days there were moderate tissue reaction to the Optibond Multi-Use -light cure- (Kerr); c) after 60 and 84 days the use of both dentine adhesives did not interfere in the healing of the surrounding connective tissue
