Abstract

The electrical resistivity has being used in tests for environmental site characterization once this measure is a qualitative manner to asses of the presence of contaminants in the subsurface. However, there are many intervenient factors in the electrical resistivity, which are usually studied separately in the laboratory in order to lead the interpretation of field test data. The goal of this master thesis is to describe the operation and the characteristics of resitivity device designed to contribute to the construction of in situ test tool. Furthermore, evaluate in the laboratory; the response of this tool through the curves of verification equipment for temperatures 19-25ºC; make the study of the electrical potential of these tool in an aqueous medium for four different concentrations and evaluate the impact of the diameter of test body in obtaining the electrical resistivity by the resistivity module and circular copper plates. The results electrical potential in an aqueous sample showed a reduction of the radius of the voltages resulting from the response device with the concentration of salt in the water due to the ease of propagation of electrons to values lower electrical resistivity. Analyses of the electrical potential in aqueous medium allowed the sizing test body for the tests in the laboratory, which is 155mm in diameter. The results obtained with sand studied led to conclusion the geometry of the specimen overlies the technique used to perform the measurement in a laboratory sand. It is due to different distribution of stresses within the specimens, e.g., the values of electrical resistivity obtained in the larger sample are lower than the values obtained in the lower sample of evidence for the same test condition. A resistividade elétrica vem sendo cada vez mais utilizada nos ensaios de investigação ambiental, sendo essa grandeza uma importante medida para a análise qualitativa da presença de contaminantes no subsolo. No entanto, muito são os fatores intervenientes na resistividade elétrica, os quais são geralmente estudados de forma isolada em laboratório para possibilitar a interpretação dos resultados de campo. Assim, o objetivo dessa dissertação de mestrado é descrever o funcionamento e as características construtivas do dispositivo de resistividade visando contribuir para a construção de um dispositivo para uso em campo e avaliar, em laboratório: a resposta do dispositivo através da obtenção das curvas de verificação desse equipamento para as temperaturas de 19 a 25ºC; realizar o estudo do potencial elétrico do dispositivo em meio aquoso para quatro concentrações diferentes; e avaliar o impacto do diâmetro do corpo de prova na obtenção da resistividade elétrica pelo módulo de resistividade e pelas placas circulares de cobre. Os resultados de potencial elétrico em meio aquoso apresentaram uma redução do raio de tensões resultantes do funcionamento do dispositivo com o aumento da concentração do meio em virtude da maior facilidade de propagação dos elétrica menores. As análises de potencial elétrico em meio aquoso possibilitaram o dimensionamento corpo de prova para realização dos ensaios em laboratório, sendo este de 155mm de diâmetro. Com os resultados obtidos para a areia estudada verificou-se que a geometria do corpo de prova se sobrepõe a técnica utilizada para a realização da medida em laboratório. Isso ocorre devido à diferente distribuição das tensões no interior dos corpos de prova, ou seja, os valores de resistividade elétrica obtidos no corpo de prova maior são inferiores aos valores obtidos no corpo de prova menor para a mesma condição de ensaio, sendo uma possível explicação...
