The author describes Bachelard’s trajectory starting from the culminating point of his scientific researches, in which he rejects imagination, considered as the falsifying element par excellence of scientific thought. Then an overturn occurs in his positions starting from psychanalyse du feu and he star to accept imagination at a greater value as another form of knowledge, through poetical divagation on the thee of the flame of a lamp. Bachelard shows to have reached full serenity and plenitude to face approaching death.
