Hablar de ciudades medias en Europa es pensar en patrimonio urbano-territorial, en paisajes históricos que continúan conformando amplios territorios. En Andalucía, donde los efectos de la metropolización son aún puntuales, el patrimonio constituye su herencia genética. Su relevancia histórica internacional y nacional es un hecho. Actualmente, el reconocimiento patrimonial de sus ciudades en los ámbitos nacional e internacional -así como su impacto, trayectoria y potencial en el sector turístico-, señalan la necesidad de descodificar este proceso. Este libro se ha publicado con motivo de la exposición “IMPACT. Ciudades medias de la Bética Interior“, presentada en la Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de la Universidad de Sevilla, Sevilla, del 13-27 de diciembre de 2019.

To speak of medium-sized cities in Europe is to think of urban-territorial heritage, in historic landscapes that continue to shape large territories. In Andalusia, where the effects of metropolisation are still punctual, heritage constitutes its genetic feature. Its international and national historical relevance is a fact. Currently, the heritage recognition of Andalusian cities at both national and international levels -as well as their impact, trajectory and potential in the tourism sector-, indicate the need to decode this process. This book has been published on the occasion of the exhibition “IMPACT. Medium-sized cities of the Inner Baetica”, presented at the Higher Technical School of Architecture of the University of Seville, Seville, from December 13-27, 2019.
