The aim of this project is to develop the basic engineering of a mentha essential oil extraction plant with a capacity of 1,06 tons per day. The first chapters of this project analysed the general concepts about essential oils. Moreover, this study analyses the different extraction tecnologies. Besides, this project develops a market study of essential oils that have the best prospects in the market. This information helped to decide which is the most attractive essencial oil for investors. As far as the extraction plant is concerned, this project contains the designs of the equipments. In addition, the cost of this plant has been calculated. And finally, some improvements in this process have been suggested in order to increase the global yield of the process.
