El activismo social feminista : la violencia de género como centro mediático

Abstract

El papel de la mujer en la sociedad ha sido una constante lucha. Pareciera que los movimientos feministas del siglo XIX y XX hubieran logrado todos los derechos de la mujer, sin embargo, hoy continúa la lucha contra el machismo, la violencia, el acoso sexual y el feminicidio, tema de todos los días en medios de comunicación que afecta a todas las mujeres y sociedad. Durante el 2017 en la industria del cine se conocieron algunos casos de acoso sexual a diferentes actrices. Uno de los casos que generó mayor ruido fueron las acusaciones al productor Harvey Weinstein, luego de las primeras publicaciones en octubre de 2017 del “The New York Times” y de la revista “The New Yorker”, tras estos eventos se populariza el movimiento activista “Me Too”. Durante los diferentes galardones Golden Globe, SAG Awards, y Grammy a inicios del 2018, las actrices y artistas se encargaron de romper el silencio y sobre todo generar ruido mediático, a través del colectivo “Time's Up”. Con estos antecedentes, se propone una metodología cuantitativa que permite analizar el alcance de estos movimientos en redes sociales como Twitter, se analiza: el número de tweets, impresiones, me gusta, usuarios más influyentes, interacciones. Las hipótesis son: 1. Las campañas o movimientos activistas cumplen su objetivo con el uso de redes sociales; y 2. El alcance de estos movimientos es mayor al ser liderados por figuras influyentes como es el caso de las actrices de Hollywood. Las redes sociales constituyen uno de los principales medios de comunicación, las campañas y movimientos activistas tienen un mayor alcance a diferencia de los movimientos creados anteriormente.
