Viabilidad técnica del All Electric Aircraft

Abstract

This work is focused on an analysis of the technical feasibility of more electric aircraft due to the fact of the growing interest that has been raised on this issue over the past few years. In the first place, the interests that promote this boom in electric aviation are explained and both the state of the art and some future related projects are shown. Subsequently, the needs of all-electric aircraft are analyzed in detail, both from the point of view of on-board and propulsion systems. Likewise, the new technologies that are involved in the development of this new type of vehicles are also studied. Subsequently, once the fundamentals on which the electric aircraft are based have been considered, the calculation of the energy needs in several proposed trajectories for two different aircraft models is carried out. With the results obtained, a feasibility analysis is carried out on how the global mass of the aircraft studied would be affected by the addition of battery weights for an electrically propelled flight and a brief economic analysis. Finally, two proposals are analyzed for the previously selected aircraft, a hybrid and an all-electric one, and the variations that would occur in these modified models are studied, both from the point of view of fuel consumption and range.
