Abstract

This paper presents the organization of group therapy for patients with psychotic disorders in a Mental Health Team. Previous experience with group therapy had shown us that groups are an appropriate context for the understanding, containment and treatment of psychotic disorders. Strategies based on group therapy can thus be considered an integral and permanent element of service provision for persons with psychoses and other disorders of the schizophrenia spectrum. The group therapy proposed in the paper is based on psychoanalysis, Operative Group theory and Pichon Riviere’s social psychology.
