Abstract

Parkinson is a neurodegenerative disease that affects about 6 million people around the world. The purpose of this study has been to assess the effect of a training programme based on the development of the muscle strength about physical condition, life quality related to health and the symptomatology of a patient with Parkinson´s disease. A 56 year old subject, who was diagnosed with this disease in 2013, carried out an 8 week training programme. Before and after the intervention, evaluations were conducted to determine the effect produced. The results obtained in this study indicated an improvement of all the evaluated variables. Finally, we can conclude that strength training seems to be an appropiate treatment for the improvement of the parameters previously discussed in subjects with this disease.
