Abstract

The age in which the author that we are dealing with lived, Enrique Alfaro (1635-1685), is not an exceptional productive period of writings which display the intellectual and social activity of a group of writers. However, the way in which Vaca de Alfaro throws his works, not just the results of that activity, but his own individuality, deserves an elaborate analysis. On the next pages, we are trying to go in deep into this question through an analysis of his most unequalled works: his Los Varones Ilustres de Córdoba manuscript and his poetic edition La Lira de Melpómene (Córdoba, Andrés Carrillo, 1666)
