Efecto de la contaminacion ambiental en la salud ocular

Abstract

Objetivos : Análisis de la incidencia de ojo seco en la población universitaria de la Facultad de Farmacia de Sevilla y estudio de la relación de la contaminación ambiental sobre dicha patología . Material y Métodos: Se realizó un estudio analítico, transversal y retrospectivo en dicha Fac ultad , que comprende una serie de pruebas: "Test OSOl" que valora la sequedad ocular, examen biomicroscópico del polo anterior para valorar signos y dos pruebas invasivas: BUT y Schirmet- para determinar calidad y estabilidad de la película lagrimal. Además. se tomaron datos de mediciones ele contaminantes, de la Red Nacional ele Vigilancia y Control ele la Contaminación Atmosférica de Andalucía, en dos estaciones de Sevilla Ranilla y Los Bennejales Finalmente, se determina la calidad del aire y se interpreta la posible asociación con el Síndrome de Ojo Seco (SOS}. La muestra estaba formada por 25 participantes (70% mujeres y 30% hombres). Resultados : Se observa para el grupo SOS Leve/Moderado valores ele Schirmer de 15.30 mm, por encima del límite, y 8,90 s en BUl ligeramente inferiores al límite. En el grupo Moderado/Grave se obtiene un valor de Schirmer de 8,91 mm, debajo del límite y 7 18 sen BUl por debajo del límite, que indicarían la posibilidad de SOS. Una valoración completa detet-mina que el 44% de los encuestados, pertenecientes a este grupo último. presentan sintomatología y signos compatibles con SOS . En cuanto a los niveles de contaminación. se determina que Los Bermejales, está en riesgo de exposición frente a PM. superando ocho veces el límite establecido. Conclusión: Los msultados en cuanto a la relación entm SOS y contaminación ambiental no son estadísticamente significativos como para demostrar una correlación entre ambas variables, pero se ha justificado el riesgo ambiental existente en Los Bermejales .
