Aim: To determine if the treatment of Obstructuve Sleep Apnea (OSA) through Mandibular Advancement Devices (MAD) could have an impact on the development of Temporomandibular Joint Disorders (TMJ). Material and methods: The information search was obtained from Pubmed, Cochrane, Scopus and from the bibliography of relevant articles. The initial search had 429 articles, whereof we finally selected 16 articles. Results: The most relevant articles have been sorted in a table divided by six columns that indicate: author, the sample size, kind of Mandibular Advancement Device (MAD), diagnostic method, Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMJ) effects and conclusions. Conclusions: The Mandibular Advancement Devices (MAD) doesn’t usually cause adverse effects in the TMJ. In the event that adverse effects have been caused, they seem to be solved during the treatment, thanks to the adaptative capacity of Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMJ).
