The aim of this article is to analyze the interactions between Spanish journalists with most notability in the Web 2.0 and the followers of their profiles on the social network Twitter. The latter can be considered as prosumers, as they have managed to leave the passive stance that for decades has characterized media audiences, to become content producers. By analyzing a corpus of over a thousand tweets, in this paper it is shown how some principles that are based on the latest research on computer-mediated discourse are sacrificed due to politeness issues when given interactional purposes in that the protection and strengthening of social image are the main goals.
