Ruinas Germinales

Abstract

Spanish suburbs are a monotonous landscape of abandoned concrete structures. At a time when the interest in these premature ruins condemned in many cases to be torn down has been increasing and there is once again a demand for burial grounds far away from the city, would it be possible to recycle these structures by transforming them into cementeries? All architectonical creation is temporal and ephemeral, and its form is nothing more than a variable state in continuous transformation. This article analyzes different study cases where are able to observe how there are strategies in which time and destruction can be manipulated as project materials in order to present, as a conclusion, a intervention who understand that the deterioration of the thousand of obsoletes housing structures is an intrinsic of the project strategy.
