Abstract

The almost exclusive way to canalize the traffic flows is the city public space, forgetting the pedestrian as a primary actor in the urban scene. Even nowadays, new city is designed and new streets are planned based on roads planning. This study emphasizes the pedestrian movement as an essential fact in the city structural construction; as a measurement pattern, in the specific Seville´s case study, with its specific conditions as climate, topography, culture...The work has been developed as a forum to vindicate and discuss this essential mobility, creating participation open cloud, associated with each public space, working from the particular and through the study of selected specific cases in the metropolitan area of Seville, items that represent today a problem for the development of pedestrian mobility in the city. Therefore, this study doesn’t deal with pedestrian squares and streets, but with major avenues junctions, infrastructures surroundings or crowded spots, non-pedestrian streets with intense commercial activity... which have focused the interest of the project precisely because of its lack of conditions to permit pedestrian traffic.Case studies that could be converted into specific intervention projects that would help to rationalize the space of the city, and to transform its use by citizens.
