On 24/09/2010, United Nations extended, by three years, the mandate of Raquel Rolnik, “ Special Rapporteur on ad e- quate housing as an integral component of the right to an adequat e standard of living, and on the right to non - discrimination in this context ” . None of the main Spanish newspapers picked up the news. Not surprising, since the co n- tinuation or termination of the contract of an officer of an international organization is hardly remarkable. However, no mention of the content of her latest report was made, despite dealing with an issue that concerns us: the dramatic housing situation of more than 200 million migrants worldwide. Something similar happened with the earlier re ports. It is unfortunate that this happens, because they are basic documents towards attaining the understanding current habitat. Given this ignorance and disinterest, the aim of this paper is to present the o b jectives and scope of the aforementioned Speci al Rapporteur

El 24/09/2010 Naciones Unidas prorrogó por tres años el mandato de Raquel Rolnik, “ Relatora Especial sobre una v i- vienda adecuada como elemento integrante del derecho a un nivel de vida adecuado y sobre el derecho de no discrim i- nación a este respecto ” . Ningún periódico de mayor tirada español recogió la noticia. Tienen razón, difícilmente la cont i- nuidad o cese d e un miembro de un organismo internacional es algo destacable. Pero tampoco hicieron ninguna me n- ción al contenido de su último informe, pese a tratar un tema que nos incumbe: la dramática situación habitacional de los más de 200 millones de migrantes en el mundo. Algo similar ocurrió con los anteriores informes. Es una oportunidad desaprovechada , pues son documentos básicos para lograr entender qué sucede hoy con el hábitat. Ante este desc o- nocimiento o desinterés, el objetivo de este artículo es dar a conoc er los objetivos y alcances de la señalada Relatoría E s pecial.
