Abstract

In architecture, images are not subsequent or external to it, they form an unbreakable part of it. We deny the division between constructed architecture and represented architecture. The research is about the language of images and in particular the relationship between built space and representation. Photography has resulted in a new reality, built on making and expressive intention of the author regarding the transformed space. It is an image created based on an inhabited space, allowing for a new space to be experienced by others. Creating an image involves the dual process of perception and representation, understanding, revealing the sensations associated with a place and creating a means to communicate them, through the resources of visual language. Ways of seeing and ways of living are intertwined in the photographic representation of the space. In images there is a space of depth, beyond the two-dimensionality of their technical support, because it has been modellised. We visually differentiate the successive planes that give structure to the images. But amongst them all there is emptiness; there are other types of spaces. We have a very particular interpretation of the term ‘digital photography’: sequences of 0 and 1. Our vision is directed by vectors, our gaze finds and differentiates solid objects, along with intermediate spaces, gaps and silences. These sequences of alphabetic and syntactic elements provoked in the viewer introspective movements and physical emotions. In Photography, besides being active, this empty space is relational, decisive in the process of spatial construction..
