Abstract

This Project has consisted in doing finite element simulations of cold Rolling of some Steel plates using Abaqus 6.12 in order to calculate the drags coefficients, or what it is the same, the friction between the plate and the roller. Cold Rolling process lies in two roller spinning with a determinated angular velocity. That rollers apply a pressure to a Steel plate, forcing it to pass between them. The mechanism which finally cause the lamination of the plates is the friction, which change its value depending of some parameters. There are two kind of drag coeficientes, the natural one and the forced one, which are matched with two diferents geometry models. So once we calculate the friction coefficient to each model with Abaqus, we are going to compare them with the theorical ones. To sum up, what we are going to do at this Project is a parametric study of the drag coefficients of cold Rolling process, changing the parameters which affect to his coefficients. In order to do this study, the FEM software that we will use is Abaqus 6.12 and Python, which is the script’s programming lenguaje of this software.
