“Orchestra Rehearsal” is a poem towards universal harmony and consensus. It is also a stern reprimand to the human indolence that is devoted to the fatal dichotomy of its own nature, either if it is individual or collective. On this cinematographic canvas, Fellini develops an iridescent discourse, at times traditional, classist, and conservative, and immersed in deconstruction, progressive, and agitator at other times. Orchestra Rehearsal is an enormous metaphor from beginning to end; it is an allegory of the social fact, full of tropes, symbolism, winks and connotations. And above all, full of reflections that the director imposes on his audience… and Fellini does not make it easy for us.
